OUR VISION: Build an enduring and inspirational youth development service.

OUR PURPOSE: Empowering individuals to realise and reach for their full potential through mental and physical wellbeing. Maca Sports Leadership Charitable Trust was formed in May 2021 to empower people to realise and reach their potential. Our vision is to build an enduring and inspirational youth development service.

Based at the Hawkes Bay Rugby Community Training Centre in Tamatea, Napier the Trust provides social services for primarily youth from all over Hawkes Bay. Our partnership with HB Rugby allows as access to gym facilities and physical and mental health specialists. In particular the Trust educates and trains people, particularly youth and unemployed on mental and physical wellbeing with the aim of living life, being responsible for self and contributing and serving their whanau and community. Training includes options for personal development, leadership, employment and career development. We aim to assist 300 young people aged 5 – 24 annually. The trust also runs programmes for youth aged 5 – 11 in emergency or transitional housing.Programmes include 6 week (30 day) courses, driver mentoring programmes, holiday programmes and weekly programmes.

Programmes offered

Ignite Youth Employment Services

Our key operation is Ignite Youth Employment Service programme consisting of 6-week (10 rangatahi per cohort) pre-employment training courses which include developing personal leadership, mental health, fitness and nutrition, specific skills and knowledge for employability, and work experience. The programme aims to support rangatahi into employment, training or further education and will be underpinned by at least 6 months of post-programme pastoral care. Ignite Drive Ignite Drive is a community driver training programme focused on providing driver training hours for leaners driver prior to sitting restricted and full licenses. The programme is led by Community Mentors under the supervision of an I endorsed driving instructor.

Lets Get Active School holiday and in- school programme’s focused on physical activity and wellbeing for tamariki in emergency and transitional housing and deprivation environments.

Ignite Rangatahi ‘Ignite the Rangitahi’ is a holistic wellbeing programme for rangitahi in need of a confidence boost to reengage with day to day schooling or to the next venture away from school. Rangitahi are still at school but at risk of falling into NEET’s.
