ChickensChapter 10 of the Consolidated Bylaw document provides information on keeping poultry in an urban area. This includes geese, ducks, pigeons, swans, turkeys and all types of domestic fowl.

A person must not keep on premises within the urban area:

  • A rooster
  • More than 12 head of poultry.

If poultry are kept on the premise within the urban area:

  • The premises must be adequately fenced to prevent escape
  • If confined to a poultry house or poultry run, the house or run must be located more than two metres from any boundary of the premises and adequately enclosed to prevent escape.
