Air Hawke's Bay Limited

Air Hawke’s Bay (AHB) is the wholly-owned company of the Hawke’s Bay & East Coast Aero Club Inc and operates from the Hastings Aerodrome.

Air Hawke’s Bay specialises in providing full-time integrated fixed wing pilot flight training for both domestic and international students, and air charter services. Air HB was the first NZ training provider to be accredited with CAA Part 141.

To help you learn to fly, AHB has up to eighteen instructors to operate an aircraft fleet that includes Piper Tomahawks and Cherokees, Cessna 152 and 172s (glass cockpit), and DA42 Diamond Twin Star. These aircraft are supported with CAA approved simulators. Unrivalled airspace and good weather conditions provide our students with better training coherency.

Pre-requisites for New Zealand Students

1. Be at least 18 years of age

2. Be competent in spoken and written knowledge of the English Language

Academic Requirements

3. University Entrance or NCEA level 3 or equivalent, with at least 14 level 3 credits in English-rich subjects (English, History, Art, Geography, Biology, Classics, Art History, Journalism, Media Studies, Religious Studies, Physical Education) and at least 14 level 3 credits in a numbers-orientated subject (Calculus, Statistics, Physics, Chemistry, Accounting, Economics) or Trade qualification at Level 4 or above or Pass all PPL subjects with acceptable pass rates and grades

4. Evidence of aviation interest and/or experience

5. Have no criminal convictions and no more than 75 demerit points (traffic infringements) over the last two years

• Appropriate level of Health to hold a Pilot Medical Examination – Class 1 for CPLs and Class 2 for PPLs

6. Complete the online ADAPT pilot pre-screening tool.
