Seventeen young people have been selected to represent Hastings’ younger residents on this year’s Hastings Youth Council, six of them returning from last year.
Council chair and Lindisfarne College student Chris Proctor, now in his second year on the council, said that since joining he had had incredible opportunities and gained valuable skills.
“All rangatahi have a unique voice to share, story to tell and perspective to bring that must be elevated and acknowledged.
“We want rangatahi across Heretaunga-Hastings to back themselves and know they have the power, passion and resolve to truly move mountains. Something to fight for, something to hope for and something to believe in – now and in the future.”
