Personal statement:

I was born in Hastings and although lived in Churchill St for my first 12 years, I am fourth generation of our family who have lived and played in Te Awanga and the surrounding area. My schools were Parkvale Primary, Hastings Intermediate and Karamu High.  By trade I am a nuts and bolts welder engineer and a total petrolhead mechanic in the backyard. I have had a lifetime involvement with the tractor tours to Cape Kidnappers, first taking passengers when I had my car licence at 15 years old then through 17 years of ownership. I am still occasionally employed part time.

An employment highlight was experiencing 15 months on Raoul Island in the Kermadecs as Base Engineer. It is this lifetime of working with Mother Nature that has given me understanding and respect for our precious environment. My enjoyment of the outdoors also reflect in my hobbies of tramping, campervanning, four wheel driving, motorcycles, military vehicles and fishing and diving.
