The Hastings District Council is undertaking an investigation into yesterday’s Havelock North Village Pool incident, which resulted in an evacuation, and the closure of the pool.
Initial information indicates that there was a minor chlorine leak originating from the chlorine gas cylinder held on-site.
The leak has been rectified, however the Village Pool will remain closed while the council completes a systems safety check and undertakes any required steps to ensure the safety of the facility before re-opening.
It is not known yet how long the investigation will take, the council will keep the community informed as to when the pool will re-open.
