Water pop-ups spreading the message

District Council is taking its mayor, councillors and drinking water specialists on the road this week, to get its drinking water treatment message out in the community.

Mayor Sandra Hazlehurst says the drinking water pop-up events explain Council’s approach to making drinking water safe.

“The pop-ups give the people of the district the chance to speak directly to councillors, members of the water services team and an industry expert from Water New Zealand.

“It’s an open invitation to come along and find out what Council is doing to deliver on its promise of safe and reliable water services.

“Ensuring that we deliver safe drinking water is the number one priority for Council. This is a chance for our communities to ask questions, to learn more about how Council is improving its water services, find out how we are treating drinking water and discuss the recommendations of the stage two report of the Government Inquiry.

“It’s important that our community is kept up to date with developments and understands the constant effort and focus that goes in to making our drinking water safe. That’s why we’re holding these events; to make it as easy as possible for our people to get the information they need.

“The pop-ups are being held over four days across the district, at lunchtimes and early evenings. There’s no set format; we’ll be out in the community, ready to listen and answer any questions.”
