Hastings District Council supports the inaugural Hawke's Bay Primary Sector Industry Leader award

Hastings District Council supports the inaugural Hawke’s Bay Primary Sector Industry Leader award, as part of the Napier Port Hawke’s Bay Primary Sector Awards.

The Hawke’s Bay A&P Society is delighted to announce the Hastings District Council as naming sponsor of the inaugural Hawkes Bay Primary Sector Industry Leader Award that will recognise those that lead from the front through innovation, building creative and empowered teams to deliver significant businesses enriching our industry and economy.   

Hastings District Council recognises the importance of the Primary Sector and the role leadership plays in developing excellence in that sector.

Sitting on the judging panel for the Leadership Award is HDC Councillor for Mohaka Ward, Tania Kerr. Councillor Kerr has supported these Primary Sector awards over many years and has attended several awards nights, and Farmer of the Year field days.

“The winner of this inaugural award will no doubt be an individual who has displayed innovation and leadership at the highest level, representing Hawke’s Bay on the national, if not the international stage.” says Councillor Kerr.

 “Great Things Grow Here, our economic development focussed platform, highlights the competitive advantage which enables Hawke’s Bay to be innovative in our approach to all industry, and especially the Primary Sector. It’s not just our fertile soils and temperate climate but also our imaginative and creative people which contribute to this region being a great place to grow business.” says Councillor Kerr.

“The Great Things Grow Here videos showcase a range of firms, such as Silver Fern Farms, Te Mata Mushrooms, Napier Port and Pan Pac which demonstrate the leadership and innovation these awards seek to celebrate. Our sponsorship of this new award category allows Hastings District Council a further opportunity to showcase our great people working in the Primary Sector” says Councillor Kerr.

Hawke’s Bay A&P Society General Manager Brent Linn said that the Napier Port Hawke’s Bay Primary Sector Awards, is a stage on which we celebrate the leading primary sector businesses and its people. These awards will bring together a range of awards and competitions that will recognise excellence in the primary industries.
