Restricted fire season

The Hastings District has moved to an OPEN FIRE SEASON as of 8am Monday 7th April 2015.

This does not apply to Hawke’s Bay beaches and those fire areas administered by the Department of Conservation or Bay Forests Rural Fire District. Permits are required in these areas.

People wishing to light fires in the open air are reminded that even with restrictions lifted, they are responsible for controlling any fire that they may light and it is an offence to leave burning or smouldering substances unattended.

The Council will seek to recover the cost of extinguishing any dangerous or uncontrolled fires.

If fires are likely to burn or smoulder after dark, a fire permit is still required.
