Martin has been seconded from the Ministry of Primary Industries to be Director, Water at the Ministry for the Environment (Ministry).  He is responsible for the development and implementation of policy relating to the quality and use of freshwater resources in New Zealand. 

Prior to his secondment, Martin has held other roles within the Water Directorate at the Ministry and at the Ministry for Primary Industries.  These roles include Acting Director Water Policy, Water Directorate (November 2015 to March 2016) and Manager, Water Allocation, Water Directorate (March to November 2016). 

Martin has worked in the natural resource sector for 20 years in a mainly policy capacity in local and central government.  Martin’s presentation will provide an outline of the initiatives being undertaken at a national level around the management of freshwater.
