Irongate Industrial 2016

Description

Hastings District Council has prepared a Variation to the Proposed Hastings District Plan.   Variation 2 was publicly notified on 16 July 2016. Hearing of submissions occurred in December 2016. Decisions on Submissions were released on 25 March 2017. It is presently in the appeal period which closes 10 May 2017.

Variation 2 seeks to rezone some 118 ha of land from the current Deferred General Industrial and Plains Production zone to a General Industrial Zone.  The land affected by the Variation is located is located just west of Hastings city, around the junction of Irongate Road East and Maraekakaho Road.

 The other key changes proposed are:

  • That stormwater disposal will be constructed and managed by individual landowners on-site (whilst water supply and waste water will remain reticulated)
  • That staging of development will no longer be required
  • That the zone is extended to take in some existing industrial activity in the area and land that was not in the Deferred General Industrial zone (most of these are identified as Scheduled sites in the current District Plan)

On-site stormwater disposal is possible at Irongate as the soils in the area have rapid, to very rapid soakage rates. For more information on the servicing aspects refer to the Servicing Plan below.
