The busiest cycle ways of the nine routes measured in Hastings are between Hastings and Havelock North, one on each side of Havelock Rd.
By the end of August 23,234 cyclists had used the south side path since January 1, and 29,370 the north side – more than 52,500 people on bikes all together.
The path was not all about two wheels though; over the same period of time more than 42,500 people had walked the two paths – near 100,000 trips.
Nine paths have counters on them, with the north side of Havelock Rd the only one with the on-site screen.
By Thursday lunch time, the day counter was up to 54 and the year to date counter was sitting at 29,364.
The next busiest path over the eight months to the end of August was the Crosses Rd pathway, in Havelock North, with almost 20,000 cycle trips and just over 8500 walkers.
