Hastings Sports Centre

Based in the heart of Hastings, the Hastings Sports Centre is an indoor recreation facility specialising in programmes for children aged 12 months to 14 years. 

As well as providing a safe and positive environment for children, we hire out our venue for large corporate events, sporting competitions and tournaments on a national level and offer meeting and function rooms for your workplace.

Fun Factor After School Programme

A safe, after school environment from 2.30pm to 6pm for children aged 5 to 14 years. Your child can play sports, games, get art ‘n crafty and start their homework. 

Registration

Registrations are taken on a first-come-first-served basis. To secure your spot, register now. Sorry no refunds. Pay in advance or at the start of each session. 

What to bring

Your child should bring afternoon tea, a drink and a smile. Please do not let your child bring precious items to our programme. We accept no responsibility for the security of loss or damage. 

Pick ups

We can arrange for your child to be picked up from their school and brought to the Hastings Sports Centre to begin the after school care. 

At the end of each day, please ensure you pick your child up no later than 6pm. 

If your child is able to walk home by themselves, please let a member of staff know and provide a permission note. 

Absences

If your child is unable to make our programme, call us on  06 8780051 no later than 2pm that day. 

Child Protection Policy

We are committed to the protection of your child. All suspected abuse will be reported to our Child Protection Services officer and Hastings Sports Centre Manager. Suspected abuse may be referred to Oranga Tamariki. 

Complaints 

Should you have any complaints regarding the care of your child while on our After School Programme, or you have noticed inappropriate staff behaviour, please call 06 8715000.

2.30pm to 6pm. Drop off from 2.45pm. 

Price

$5.00 per hour. 

To have your child collected from their school, and additional $3 is charged per day. 

Oscar subsidies are available.

Fun Factor School Holiday Registration form

We are capping our numbers at 40 children per day to ensure a safe and fun environment. Please register your children in advance to avoid disappointment. Your child will be supervised in the registration room until all children are registered for that day.  If your child is unable to attend once registered, we will take another child in their place. Sorry no refunds. Pay in advance or at the start of each session. 

What to bring

Your child should bring lunch, a drink, togs (in the summer), suitable play clothes and a smile.

Pick ups

The holiday programme finishes at 4pm but after care is available from 4:00pm - 6:00pm at a rate of $5/hour.

Expected behaviour and banned items 

Your child is expected to demonstrate the required behaviour of each facility we may visit during the programme. 

Soft drinks, chewing gum, aerosol cans and trading cards are banned from the programme.

Tumbling Tots

For children aged 12 months to 5 years, Tumbing Tots is a fun and interactive programme for parent and child to work one on one, covering fundamental movement patterns.

With structured classes and children learning at their own pace, our specialised instructors support parents and caregivers with technique and confidence building.

Registrations

  • We take registrations for casual classes, or sign up for the full eight-week term
  • Classes are limited to 15 toddlers. Registrations are taken on a first-come-first served basis

Getting Started In The Pool - Fundamental Skills Programme (Disability)

The Getting Started Programme is specifically designed for children aged 5 and up, with physical and/or learning disabilities.  Find out more HERE.

The next term sessions start at Clive Pool on Friday 11 August, 2017. $5 per session. No swimming ability required. If yiou child is in a wheelchair a hoist is available.

Sports Skills - Disability Programme

The Sport Skills Disability programme is specifically designed for children aged with physical and/or learning disabilities that would like to imporve their sporting abilities. Find out more HERE.

This programme will not be running in term three but will recommence in term four. Cost is $5 per session. 

Hawke's Bay District Junior Chess Tournament 

Play against other Years 1-6 novice chess players to be crowned the Hastings District Junior Chess Champion! 

The cost is $5 per person. 

Each person competes in six 30-minute rounds throughout the day on 27th October 2017.

Hire our venue

The Hastings Sports Centre is a well regarded facility for large corporate events, meetings, sporting events and national tournaments. 

Our facilities include:

  • Main hall - A sports hall with two courts, approximately 900 square metres (35.3m long x 27.4m wide), with wooden floor marked out for badminton, basketball, netball, volleyball and tennis.  (Capacity 1,000).  [Height: 12m at apex, 7.5m at sides.] Includes grandstand seating of 450-500. Extra bleaches seating can also be hired. Four banks of five, seating approxiamtely 45 people per unit. 
  • Function room - A function room, approximately 130 square metres, with kitchen (complete with zip, fridge, oven and dishwasher) currently with seating for 50 people.  (Capacity 115)  Audio visual equipment and whiteboard also available.
  • Meeting room - A 12.8m by 3m meeting room - tables and chairs and whiteboards are provided.  (Capacity 35)
  • Male and female changing rooms.
  • Ticket office - If required. Users are responsible for the arrangement of security for cash takings.
  • Kitchen / Tuck shop - A downstairs facility with zip, fridge and stove, plus counter from which groups can use.

Extras

  • Lifts - Disabled persons access to the gym floor as well as the first floor facilities.
  • Chairs and tables - 150 chairs and 10 trestle tables.
  • Crockery - Limited crockery available for hire.
  • Three-phase power - 5 pin 32 amp power available for functions.
  • Phone line - for Radio Broadcasts from Grandstand and Function room.
  • Sound system - Hand held radio microphone and sound system available
