Education Hawke’s Bay
Education Hawke’s Bay is a newly established entity aimed at collectively increasing the numbers of international students to the region.
Membership is largely the secondary schools we have here, both state and integrated, as well as EIT our tertiary level provider, and other private training establishments such as Air Hawke’s Bay and FutureCol.
Education Hawke’s Bay is coordinated by Hastings District Council, and is part of the region’s economic development strategy to attract new business.
International Education is now estimated to contribute more than $2.6 billion to the New Zealand economy each year, and contribute to the creation of 28,000 new jobs (Economic Impact of International Education 2012/13).
In 2012, Hawke’s Bay had 1,271 international fee paying students – the goal of Education Hawke’s Bay is to double this number by 2018.
