Personal Statement:

I was born on the West Coast where I was Head Boy at Greymouth High School.

I moved to Hastings at the start of my career in teaching in the seventies. In 2014 I retired after twenty one years as the principal of Frimley Primary School. The proudest moment being when Frimley was named the NZ School of the Year.

My wife Jean was also a teacher.  Now retired she is following her interest in painting and the arts.

Both our children went through Havelock North High School where Callum was Head Boy and two years later Anna was their Dux.  Both of them went on to achieve first class honours in law.

I refereed rugby for thirty five years reaching provincial level followed by ten years as a NZRU National Rugby Referee coach.

I am a current member of the Sport HB Board of Trustees and I am also on the HBDHB Consumer Council.
